Expressions of interest – Medical Practitioner Contractor

We are seeking a doctor preferably a Fellow of the RNZCGP or Fellow of RNZCUC, or working towards either of these qualifications for our Medical and Urgent Care clinic in Nelson.

Situated in beautiful seaside Nelson with easy access to Abel Tasman National Park, Marlborough Sounds, mountain biking trails and skiing at Rainbow Ski area. Nelson also has a vibrant café and art scene. The practice is centrally located and close to excellent primary and high schools.  The clinic is on site with Nelson Hospital and doctors are able to enjoy close communication with Hospital clinicians, especially ED and Orthopaedics.

The Medical and Injury Centre is an accredited Urgent Care Clinic co-located with a small General Practice near the Nelson city centre. Our Centre is open from 8am – 10pm 365 days per year. Our clinic has 29000 patient presentations per annum. The clinical team compromise of Urgent Care Physicians, General Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and Health Care Assistants. Supported by a reception and administration team.

The core hours to cover are Monday – Friday for 5 hour sessions, which may be in the General Practice or Urgent Care Clinic, although occasional weekend shifts may be required. We are looking for 2-8 sessions per week, negotiable.

You will bring the following qualifications and experience:

  • Fellowship with RNZCUC and/or RNZCGP or working towards either of these qualifications
  • Current annual practising certificate
  • Familiarity with acute presentations including (or willingness to learn quickly):
    • X-ray and treatment of minor limb injuries
    • ECG interpretation
    • Community based IV therapies
  • CORE Advanced certificate
